Sunflower Cigar Box No. 2. by Michelle Bailey. Watercolor and mixed media. UV varnish. Optional hanging wire for wall display.
This watercolor was painted using Daniel Smith iridescent gold watercolor ground and has a shimmering effect in certain lighting.
Matted giclée prints available at show and online.

About this show:  Our annual exhibition at Brookside Gardens is a mid-sized art show using the full gallery space within the visitors center. The show is a wonderful opportunity for MAA artists to display their botanical works -- flowers, plants, butterflies, landscape paintings from the gardens. There will be wall art and 3D artworks in the display cases. Many of the artists will have giclée prints of their works available for sale in the gift shop.

I'm a new member of the Montgomery Art Association and happy to have my cigar box painting of a beautiful sunflower included in the hanging wall art display in this art show.  Matted giclée prints of my sunflower painting and other works will be available for purchase in the Brookside Gardens gift shop--and my online gift shop. I will be attending the meet the artist event on May 17th and hope to see you there! Over 70 MAA artists are participating. I've seen this show many times over the years and have always been amazed by the art.

Sales during the show support Brookside Gardens and local artists--Thank you!

Carroll Avenue, Takoma Park, MD Watercolor & Signs of Justice

Just about every single time I walk by this yard on Carroll Avenue in the summer I stop and take photos of the bees, butterflies and blooms. This time, it was the colorful “We Believe” sign that caught my eye. Later as I was sketching from the photos, I realized I couldn’t see all of the words at the bottom so I searched online and found  Jameesa Oakley’s Etsy shop – SignsofJustice — ( you can order your own yard sign at the link!). They have other great signs too, so check them out!

Matted prints and note cards of my painting are available from my Etsy shop, MichelleBaileyArt.

Like the yard sign? You can get one at Signs of Justice!

Takoma Park DC Library Sketch (for those who asked about it)

Hello to the kids walking by that I chatted with. You asked me what I was doing sitting across from the Takoma Park DC Library way up on a steep hill. I had just started my sketch but I mentioned I would post the final image when I was done. You walked by again and showed me that you had found my website on your phone and asked if that was really a photo of me on the about page. Very impressive that you took the time to find out! I hope you enjoy this sketch.

Takoma Bicycle Watercolor Pen & Ink

Last Monday I used the opportunity of the beautiful weather to go outside and do some sketching. I walk by this place all the time and love the whirligigs in the front lawn so I thought it would be fun to paint– and it was quite a challenge! I’m new to sitting and painting outside like this. I love how using a watercolor sketchbook helps me loosen up and explore new ways of painting. I think I’m hooked!

Some sketchbook prints are now available from my etsy shop: MichelleBaileyArt.etsy.com. Please email me about any images you are interested in that you don’t see listed.
