December News: Upcoming Art Show “‘Tis the Season” & New Poster Series inspired by a Forest Knolls Vintage Real Estate Brochure

I invite you to consider our small business: Michelle Bailey Art & Gifts, on this "Small Business Saturday" and enjoy 10% off of your order of unique art and gifts.

I am excited to participate in "'Tis the Season" art exhibition at Artists & Makers Studio in North Bethesda, Md. This exhibition organized by Montgomery Art Association (MAA) is on view November 29 through December 20, 2023. Stop by 11810 Parklawn Dr Suite 210 and enjoy a lovely variety of artworks by MAA members.I have two paintings in progress that will be in this show.

I have been adding new designs to the gift shop, many local themes, including the latest series based on a 1960s Forest Knolls Real Estate Advertising brochure given to me when we purchased our lovely home from the original owner. I created a poster for each house in the brochure: the "Carriage Split-Level", "Carriage Rambler" and "Carriage Bi-level. If you live in one of these models, this handsome poster will certainly add a bit of nostalgia to your wall décor. If you have an original sales brochure for your house that might inspire a poster, please contact me.

New design added to my growing local series of T-shirts & mugs

Kensington Maryland B&O Train Station. Designed by E. Francis Baldwin in 1891. This beautiful station is photographed and painted frequently by artists, including myself. Baldwin’s train stations are so elegant. The design is inspired by the classic diesel locomotive paint scheme and is part of my growing local hometown series. Showcase your appreciation of historic trains and train stations with a T-shirt or mug. Makes a great gift for the railroad enthusiast.

Sunflower Cigar Box No. 2. by Michelle Bailey. Watercolor and mixed media. UV varnish. Optional hanging wire for wall display.
This watercolor was painted using Daniel Smith iridescent gold watercolor ground and has a shimmering effect in certain lighting.
Matted giclée prints available at show and online.

About this show:  Our annual exhibition at Brookside Gardens is a mid-sized art show using the full gallery space within the visitors center. The show is a wonderful opportunity for MAA artists to display their botanical works -- flowers, plants, butterflies, landscape paintings from the gardens. There will be wall art and 3D artworks in the display cases. Many of the artists will have giclée prints of their works available for sale in the gift shop.

I'm a new member of the Montgomery Art Association and happy to have my cigar box painting of a beautiful sunflower included in the hanging wall art display in this art show.  Matted giclée prints of my sunflower painting and other works will be available for purchase in the Brookside Gardens gift shop--and my online gift shop. I will be attending the meet the artist event on May 17th and hope to see you there! Over 70 MAA artists are participating. I've seen this show many times over the years and have always been amazed by the art.

Sales during the show support Brookside Gardens and local artists--Thank you!
